Clinical ResponsibilitiesTo act as a clinical diabetes foot specialist within the multidisciplinary team. To be responsible for the day-to-day clinical provision of acute podiatry and wound clinics in the multidisciplinary diabetes centre and acute podiatry clinics. To have highly developed physical skills, precision hand/eye co-ordination which involves highly skilled debridement techniques of acute/chronic, neuropathic and ischaemic wounds. To provide podiatry treatment in a variety of clinical settings:- Outpatient clinics with MDT in Diabetes directorate- Outpatient clinics with MDT in Rehabilitation directorate- Acute hospital wardsSome of which may be in isolation and requiring working in a restricted position for a substantial proportion of the working time. To have the capability to move and handle patients who may be immobile, wheelchair or bed bound, often working in difficult conditions To assess new and existing patients and develop individual treatment plans to meet their podiatric need, liaising with the patient and other health care professionals as appropriate, utilising highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and practical experience. Managerial/LeadershipTo assist with the supervision of students and junior staff when required to do so. To actively participate in the professional development programme of the Podiatry Department To inspire others and encourage them to seek advice and solutions to problems To challenge others to take an active part in developing knowledge, ideas and work practice To promote the service and disseminate Good Practice both internal and external to the Trust.
