What you will do in your working day
You will work under the direction and guidance of an experienced supervisor or craftsperson, carrying out all aspects of maintenance work. This will include:
* Plumbing i.e. leaking taps
* Carpentry and joinery
* Painting/decorating
* Plastering
* Roofing
* Re-glazing
* Electrical i.e. make safe broken light switch/sockets
plugs
* Other maintenance work as necessary within the
capabilities of the post holder
Other accountabilities:
* Learn the process of understanding drawings and work in
accordance with specifications
* Take measurements and calculate the size and amount
of material needed
* Follow Health & Safety policy and procedures, including
the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE)
where needed
* Use all tools, equipment and materials safely
* Build and maintain good working relationships with
colleagues, customers and managers
The training you will be getting
* City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Property Maintenance.
* Functional Skills level 1 in English and Maths if required. The test for level 2 must also be attempted.
* Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
After successful completion of the Property maintenance apprenticeships you'll be confident in undertaking various tasks alone or part of a team. The skills you learn can be used in a full time position within the industry. You will be able to complete detailed engineer reports after each completed job and be able to communicate with contract management and use your calendar to manage your day. Also whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness.
