Working hours are 15 hours 2x7.5 shifts or 3x5 shifts.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Prosthetic Service, working 15 hours a week - shift pattern to be discussed with Friday being a set day.
The regional Prosthetic Service is one of the largest in the UK and has a full complement of highly skilled consultants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, prosthetists, healthcare assistants, and prosthetics technicians who specialise in the treatment of adults and children amputees.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate clinical knowledge of core key nursing skills to ensure they can work effectively and independently within this multidisciplinary team.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate leadership skills to assist in the development and growth of this established team, providing clinical wound management, knowledge of long-term conditions, training and supervision to qualified and unqualified staff, and the ability to influence service improvement at local and regional levels.

Main duties of the job
The job holder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The job holder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, and the setting of standards of care.
The job holder will provide specialist nursing care, treatment, and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The job holder will ensure cost-effective use of resources.
The job holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and whole service working. As a role model, they will promote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high-quality, effective, and efficient care. The job holder will provide training and education to staff groups, patients, and families/carers.

Job responsibilities
Leadership
Provide a visible clinical lead and role model to the nursing and wider team by delivering high-quality compassionate care.
Support staff to provide efficient, effective, safe, and quality care to patients as an expert practitioner.

Clinical
Provide high-quality care as an expert practitioner and act as a role model and resource for advice, support, and guidance.
Participate in the setting, monitoring, and improvement of standards and quality of patient care.
Undertake clinical procedures where dexterity and accuracy are required.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care and treatments using specialist clinical knowledge and clinical skills.
Make clinical assessments and treatment decisions within clearly defined policies and protocols.

Undertake duties on wards or departments as and when required by service demands or patient need.
Supervise clinical staff to promote the delivery of excellent clinical standards.

Fulfil the requirements as directed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council to maintain and revalidate registration.
