Job Title
A Fire Hazards Engineer is sought to support the UK's Nuclear renaissance in providing expertise in project management, design and engineering, qualification test, and fire hazards analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Fire Risk Identification: Utilize 3D models, calculation methodologies, and fire requirements to analyze combustible materials, perform temperature change calculations, and study risk of damage to systems.
* Fire Protection: Recommend protection solutions, divide buildings into zones, suggest fire detection and firefighting methods, and perform fire protection calculations using specific software.
* Hazards Scope: Produce updates to Hazard Verification Studies, define scenarios for internal and external threats, identify equipment under threat, and manage technical topics relating to protection requirements and system design.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in safety or fire protection technologies.
* Knowledge of ETCF (EPR technical code for fire) and UK Fire Regulations, including BS9999.
* Experience with fire protection calculations and ability to work with calculation tools.
* Ability to propose fire protection and detection solutions.
* Knowledge of safety requirement implementation and hazard studies, as well as Nuclear Safety Assessment Principles and experience of their application.
* Experience in systems, layout engineering, and pipework, and knowledge of PDMS and Navisworks software.
* English language proficiency, with French being an advantage.
* Expected skills include conscientiousness, enthusiasm for the subject, good interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
