We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our friendly nursing team for 2 days a week.
General Practice Nurse and clinic room duties to be undertaken to include dressings, adult immunisations, CVD reviews, blood tests, BP/ECG, ear checks, cancer care reviews, and health checks. We are looking for 2 days a week on a Wednesday and Friday, plus the opportunity to help out with holiday and sickness cover as available.
Primary Care experience is desirable but not essential as appropriate training will be given to the right candidate.
Salary is dependent on previous experience and skill level.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Routine tasks relating to patient care.
2. Basic and complex wound care.
3. Removal of sutures/clips/staples.
4. Urinalysis.
5. Ear syringing.
6. Perform ECGs.
7. Venepuncture and preparation of pathology samples.
8. Blood pressure measurement.
9. CVD reviews.
10. Adult immunisations.
About Us
Church Stretton Medical Practice is situated at the bottom of the Stretton Hills and is a rural practice within South West Shropshire. The current patient list size is approximately 7,200 patients.
We are a friendly and professional team that works hard to provide the best service we can to our population. We have a high percentage of patients over the age of 65 years.
Job Responsibilities
1. Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by lead nurse and GPs.
2. Provide basic and complex wound care to patients.
3. Perform the removal of sutures/clips/staples.
4. Perform urinalysis.
5. Perform ear syringing.
6. Perform ECGs.
7. Venepuncture and the preparation of pathology samples.
8. Conduct blood pressure measurements.
9. Chaperone and assist patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
10. Assist GPs with minor surgery and female health clinics if required.
11. Request basic pathology tests, for example, urine culture, swabs.
12. Follow agreed clinical protocols with referral to lead nurse or GPs as appropriate.
13. Maintain nurses' rooms, stocking and rotating items as required.
14. Undertake housekeeping duties including general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses' and treatment rooms.
15. At all times maintain a high standard of data entry and consistency in patient records.
16. Attend mandatory training and any other training deemed appropriate to maintain and develop skill levels.
17. Maintain a high professional standard of nursing care and keep up to date with all aspects of nursing care relevant to the post.
18. Participate in the annual appraisal process, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.
19. Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintain work areas in a clean, tidy, and safe way and free from hazards.
20. Participate in the administrative systems of the practice.
21. Advise the lead nurse/practice manager of potential problems/errors within the range of assigned tasks.
22. Attend and participate in any relevant internal and external meetings as required.
23. Participate in audit where appropriate.
24. Awareness of own limitations and experience.
25. Ensure all Data Protection requirements are met when gathering, recording, storing, and sharing patient data; both manually and on clinical systems. Maintain patients' privacy and strict confidentiality at all times.
