Let's paint the picture of the role:
Reporting directly to the Team Lead Logistics MPY, the Logistics Coordinator will support the operation and ensure the service levels of the Regional Distribution Centre in Venlo, NL & Genk, BE are met. The Logistics Coordinator will ensure the requirements of the Customer Order Sales desks in Europe, Supply Planning (Intercompany) and Export markets are met, and that the OTIF performance of DCs and the Transport carriers is in line with Service Level Agreements and company objectives.
The Logistics Coordinator will play a crucial role in the move of our Distribution operations from Venlo Netherlands towards Genk Belgium, where AkzoNobel is centralizing their Logistics operations for the Coatings business. Limited travel may be required to other AkzoNobel sites and external Logistics sites within Benelux.
Responsibilities
• Daily communication with the COS desks, Supply Planning (Factories, RDCs/LDCs) and transport companies, to ensure the continuity of supply of products to the end-user customer.
• Monitoring Export processes (Export documents incl. dispatch notes, DGNs, shipping invoices etc) managing the end-to-end processes with Forwarders and Customs agencies
• Check and resolve system errors in a timely fashion to minimize any potential delays (incl idoc management of inbound-outbound-storage interfaces with Local Service Providers)
• Updating daily loading plans in connection with warehouse and freight forwarder requirements.
• Ensuring all stock quarantine/pass adjustments are actioned quickly and accurately in both SAP and WMS (Warehouse Management System) systems.
• Ensuring all returns are handled within agreed timeframes and optimizing the returns process
• Support the process for invoicing; ensuring documentation is signed and distributed to the correct departments for payment on time. Also to carry out random checks to ensure invoices are correct and clearly marked.
• Be the SPOC (single point of contact) for specific regions and take ownership of the logistics operations in that region, interacting with all necessary stakeholders (Warehouse, Carrier, Customer Service Desk, Supply Planning.
• Maintain office H&S standards, including compliance with the Clear Desk Policy.
What do you need to have to be successful in this role?
• Proven experience in customer service, administrative roles, or supply chain planning.
• Practical experience in warehousing, transportation, and customs procedures.
• Expertise in export processes, including the preparation and management of export documentation.
• Certification in ADR (road) transport of dangerous goods is mandatory (provided through internal training).
• Fluency in both English and Dutch (verbal and written communication).
• Proficient in IT skills, specifically Excel and Word. SAP experience required; familiarity with WMS systems is an asset.
• Experience with the shipping and handling of hazardous materials.
• Strong interpersonal skills with an assertive, customer-focused mindset to manage a high volume of internal and external stakeholders.
• Thorough understanding of export processes and related documentation.
• Exceptional attention to detail while maintaining a broad perspective on the entire process.
• Ability to perform well under time constraints and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
