Job Title
A highly experienced Electrical Design Engineer is required to join a market leading supplier of integrated warehouse automation solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Allen Bradley or Siemens control systems, EPLANPro Panel, and AutoCAD, with a background in automation architectures, inverters, and control wiring, particularly in the logistics or warehousing sectors.
About the Role
We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to collaborate with hardware and software engineers in the controls department to guide projects through hardware design phases. Key responsibilities include creating schematic drawings for control cabinets and field installations using EPLAN Pro Panel (EPLAN Electric P8 with 3D panel layouts), as well as utilizing AutoCAD LT to create device layouts for installations.
Main Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project deliverables forward.
* Create accurate and detailed designs using EPLAN Pro Panel and AutoCAD LT.
* Work under pressure to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality output.
* Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to manage changing project requirements.
Requirements:
* Proficient in Allen Bradley or Siemens control systems, with in-depth knowledge of automation architectures, network layers, PROFINET, or EtherNET/IP networks for distributed systems.
* Skilled in inverters and control wiring (preferably SEW), AS-i systems, and safety system architectures, including SISTEMA-based designs.
* Experience in designing control systems within budget constraints and managing projects valued from £80k to £30M+.
* Expertise in LV systems, including volt drop and current limit calculations, and structured PLC system design.
* Background in industrial sectors such as logistics, warehousing, distribution, or fulfillment, with a strong understanding of warehouse design and material handling equipment.
* Educational background in Electrical Engineering (HND or above) with at least five years of design experience on 20+ projects valued at £500k+ or three years with similar proven performance.
