JOB SUMMARY To provide specialist advice and clinical support to the Childrens Hospital and the wider Trust in relation to the acutely ill/deteriorating child in the non-critical care environment. Assist staff with planning and delivery of care to the higher dependency patient. This includes supporting patients on the spinal pathway on the neurosciences ward Work as part of the Paediatric Critical Care Outreach Team working alongside and supporting medical and nursing teams with sick and/or deteriorating patients Review patients with high PEWS scores and support ward team with their care Support staff with more complex procedures. Act as an expert resource for the MDT, specialty, directorate and Trust in regard to the recognition and rescue of the deteriorating child. Respond to escalations and paediatric emergency 2222 calls Review patients that are or at risk of clinical deterioration that may not trigger PEWS. Such as fragile children or "watchers" Provide short periods of high dependency care on the ward until a patient improves or a critical care bed is created. Support a child in ED needing critical care support and transfer safely to PCCU once stable and bed available. Facilitate escalation of treatment to the Paediatric Critical Care Unit based within the Childrens Hospital. Assist in the care of Level 1/2 LTV patients on the ward Support the delivery of High Flow Oxygen using the AIRVO device to ward patients that require this level of support, and to support nursing and medical teams Review all patients following discharge from Critical Care and Neonatal services
