About the Role
Our Building Consultancy team provide technical advice and construction expertise to help navigate each stage of the building lifecycle.
Our work covers all areas of building surveying, from dilapidation advice to schedules of condition, due diligence to expert witness. We work with occupiers, investors, financiers and developers to provide advice on building performance, cost in use, future flexibility and compliance.
We are looking for students studying a Building Surveying related degree to join the London office on a year’s placement. You will work within one of our business groups gaining real experience from day one. The role will be varied from going out on inspections to meeting clients throughout the UK.
Our aim is to nurture creative and dynamic property consultants. You’ll receive support towards gaining APC competencies and you will be able to attend training days to further develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours so you can work towards your APC throughout your placement year.
Please note – this placement position will start in September 2025 for 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the effective delivery of professional advice through the completion of typical instructions
• Assisting with site visits to assess building conditions, structural integrity and compliance with building codes and regulations
• Preparing and drafting reports on building conditions, including identifying defects or areas requiring maintenance
• Coordination between contractors, suppliers and project teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Project support on projects, monitoring progress and ensuring that work complies with building regulations and quality standards
• Assisting with risk assessments, ensuring that all work conducted on site meets health and safety regulations
Required Skills
• Studying a RICS accredited degree, preferably in Building Surveying
• An active interest in the built environment
• Flexible and self-motivated with a real desire to deliver excellent customer service and strong client relationships
• Proactive approach and a desire to continually learn and develop
• Organised, efficient, able to use your initiative and work to tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with an eye for details
• Positive attitude
• You must, by the commencement of employment, have the right to work in the UK
• Good MS Office skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
