Specialty and Associate Specialist Doctor (SAS) in Geriatric Medicine - Recovery and Rehabilitation Ward in Shropshire
Atrumed Healthcare is known for exceptional patient care. We provide specialised care to patients, helping them regain their independence and improve their quality of life. We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated senior clinical fellow to join our team.
We are seeking a Rehabilitation and Recovery SAS doctor to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualised rehabilitation plans for our patients. The role requires understanding of geriatric medicine, palliative care, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
The doctor will be supported by a multidisciplinary team, which includes GPs, junior doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. Pharmacy provision will be delivered by the acute hospital.
Royal Shrewsbury Rehabilitation and Recovery Unit: 32 beds
Key Responsibilities:
1. Communicating effectively during multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and providing medical input for MDT discussions.
2. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients, including physical health assessments, examinations, and necessary investigations.
3. Collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
4. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
5. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including documentation of assessments and communication with other agencies and primary care.
6. Provide education and support to patients and their families.
7. Assist in reducing acute hospital admissions and length of stay.
8. Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of services.
Requirements:
1. Full GMC registration and license to practice.
2. MBChB or equivalent.
3. ALS.
4. Ideally at least three years working in NHS hospital medicine following primary medical qualification.
5. Up to date clinical experience and skills within an NHS organisation.
6. Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
8. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
9. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
