Supported Living North Yorkshire provides support across 2 schemes within the Harrogate Area. We provide assessment and support for adults living with a primary learning disability diagnosis, Autism, or Mental Health issues, but may present complex conditions.
Our services offer 24/7 specialist supported living care designed to provide just the right level of support; we encourage individuals to develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible. We offer 1:1 and 2:1 staffing where required.
Within the homes, we continually promote the development of social skills, independent living, and personal responsibility. The individuals supported by Supported Living North Yorkshire take pride in their homes as they are directly involved in creating them. Individuals participate in daily duties such as cooking, doing laundry, and cleaning, depending on their ability.
Many enjoy social occasions arranged within the community, such as eating out, shopping, attending music concerts, football or rugby matches, trips to theme parks, and visits to local Turkish spa baths.
As a Support Worker, you must be committed to working in a person-centered way that promotes independence and social inclusion.
You will be expected to provide support that reflects the wishes and needs of the people you are supporting, consistent with their individual support plans. You will assist individuals in maintaining a home of their own and leading rich, fulfilled lives as valued and contributing members of their community.
You will comply with all regulations as defined in policies, supervisions, and training sessions. Attendance at supervisions, team meetings, and training is required, along with effective communication with your manager and colleagues.
You should have the initiative and motivation to work alone as well as part of an established team. You must be able to relate to people and be a good listener and communicator. Personal care may be required as part of the job role.
Experience working with people with a learning disability, Autism, or Mental Health is not necessary, although it would be an advantage. Behaviors that may challenge may be shown within this job role; therefore, full training will be given. However, you must demonstrate an understanding of the issues faced by people with learning disabilities and an enthusiasm for supporting them to take control of their lives.
Successful applicants for this role will be required to attend person-centered training. A full UK driving license is required for this role due to the individuals' needs.
