This is a hunter role, in which you will be cold calling or emailing people you have not spoken to before.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
1. Making outbound calls to merchants, including retail businesses, dental or veterinary practices, among others.
2. Working with a market-leading retail point-of-sale finance solution to corporate and commercial accounts.
3. Collaborating with the Marketing team to generate leads, with 70% coming from your own insights and the rest through a collaborative approach.
4. Identifying the right person to win by dealing with a range of roles, including Finance Director, Managing Director, and IT Director.
5. Winning new clients that meet the objectives of the business area, drive good £ Volume, and have low bad debt (customers not paying or fraud).
6. Regularly meeting new opportunities alongside your peers and manager.
7. Participating in the development and roadmap of new products to keep Zopa ahead of the competition.
As the Senior Business Development Manager (SBDM), you will report to the Head of Business Development, who is part of the POS commercial leadership team.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
1. Experience as a hunter in previous roles, with the ability to initiate conversations with potential clients you haven't spoken to before or re-engage with past discussions.
2. The responsibility for generating a minimum of 70% of your own new business leads, which may include existing opportunities in our Salesforce that are currently unassigned.
3. Familiarity with CRM platforms, such as Salesforce, and an understanding of the importance of timely and accurate data input.
4. An awareness of functioning within a regulated environment, particularly in the consumer finance product vertical, including Consumer Finance, Personal Loans, and Motor Finance.
5. Prior experience in the Point of Sale Finance sector, fixed-term loans, or revolving credit is an advantage.
6. Experience in a regulated environment is a must, although being from an existing provider of a like-for-like offer is not essential but a nice to have.
