Role Profile This role will primarily be based in the Laboratory and will be responsible for the chemicals and subsequent processes that occur on the shop floor. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities Preparation of laboratory procedures, data cards and work instructions. To become involved with COSHH and health, safety and environmental issues. Carry out internal quality auditing and to contribute to the preparation of Nadcap audits. Owner and initial contact for Nadcap Chemical Processing. Preparation and testing of metallographic samples. Chemical analysis and control of tank concentrations. Production of written reports. Auditing of shop floor processes. Review and approval of manufacturing techniques. Customer and supplier liaison. Process control, development and training of shop floor personnel. Make up of etches and lab solutions. Stock control of bulk processing chemicals. Purchasing of effluent testing and chemistry lab consumables. Approval of data cards. Hardness Testing Electrolytic etching and chemical stripping of production parts. Electrochemical analysis of production parts. Provide training of peers in chemistry related activities. Promoting best practice across all working areas through the support of Kaizen Person Specification Enthusiastic and committed to making improvements to the Lab Good Oral, written and personal communication skills Problem solving skills Computer literate – full range of MS Office Skills including MS Access Database Academic Background in Chemistry (A-Level / HND / Degree) Previous experience of using Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor and control processes Previous knowledge of heat treatment steels and furnace controls would be an advantage
