Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is our state-of-the-art, 63 bed mental health facility for adults situated in the Kent Medical Campus in Maidstone.
Main duties of the job
Roseacre Ward provides a care pathway for service users who are preparing to step down to community living and uses a recovery focused model. The aim of the service is to support service users manage their mental health, develop coping strategies, reinforce daily living skills and prepare for a return to independent living. This is a great opportunity for a Responsible Clinician who is looking at expanding/ developing in management as a Deputy Medical Director as well as in clinical experience, across all the wards with initial focus/ cover being on Roseacre ward. In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life-changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team.

Your role responsibilities
1. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
2. Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
3. Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
4. Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatment
5. Participate in ward rounds & clinical audits
6. Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governance
7. Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers hearings & attend hearings
8. Participate in the 1 in 6/7 telephone on-call rota

We are looking for someone who is...
21. Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
22. Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
23. Experienced & knowledgeable in adult psychiatry & mental health diagnosis
24. Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
25. A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
26. Committed to continued professional development
27. Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
28. A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
