Precision is excited to partner with a market leader in structural light testing as they relocate their operations to the Derby area. With a full order book and plans for continued success and growth, this is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual. They are currently seeking a Trainee Field Engineer, who is enthusiastic to learn, to join their expanding test team. The depot is easily accessible from Derby, Castle Donington and surrounding areas.
The Role: Trainee Test Engineer
1. To carry out Structural Testing and Analysis of Lighting Columns throughout the UK.
2. This work is carried out for local councils, highways and the rail network.
3. Undertaking the testing of lampposts using machinery and test equipment (training will be provided)
4. Expensed overnight stays (Monday to Thursday) with an early return Friday on a weekly basis.
5. Working in small teams (typically 2)
6. Cleaning, checking and loading test equipment and vehicles
7. Early starts and driving to the test location on a Monday morning
8. Setting up and liaising with contractors and clients on-site
9. Working in a safe manner based on the location (H&S training will be provided)
10. Operating machinery (Digger/cherry picker type arms)
11. Reporting and record keeping (Training will be provided)
12. Ensuring the security of machinery, vehicles and test equipment
13. Occasional nights/weekend work is required.
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Trainee Field Engineer:
14. MUST hold a full, clean UK driving licence (class B E desirable)
15. Have previous experience of operating machinery such as a cherry picker, digger, JCB, scissor lift or forklift
16. Basic hands-on experience of mechanical repairs such as vehicle mechanics or machine maintenance would be a benefit
17. MUST be happy to stay away from home Monday-Thursday night on a weekly basis
18. Be good at planning, reliable & well-organised
19. Happy to be working outside in all weather conditions
20. Live within 30 minutes of the Derby area
21. Be PC literate – able to use a computer to create simple reports
22. Be willing to start early when the role requires
23. Have a strong work ethic and commitment

24. Starting salary £26,000-£28,000 per annum
25. Daily expenses provided along with hotels for overnight stays
26. Monday-Friday day shifts
27. £50 night shift bonus per night
