Job Overview
We are looking for volunteers based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Volunteers play a very important role in the NHS. Working in a range of settings and providing a variety of services alongside paid staff, volunteers are often a key part of patient services.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Assist the Charity and Membership Co-ordinator and help to raise awareness of the Trust Membership and Hospitals charities.
2. Carry out a variety of administrative and clerical duties.
3. Assist with the preparation of communications materials for public and staff displays.
4. Assist in the organising of events.
5. Deal with telephone enquiries including using a call answering telephone system as well as face to face contact.
6. Assist the office staff with photocopying, scanning, emailing, faxing, distributing, filing and organising letters and other documents.
7. Open and stamp Charity/Membership letters.
8. Support the recruitment of public foundation trust members by talking with the public regarding membership and ways of getting involved within the hospital.
9. Support the sale of raffle tickets on behalf of the Charity Office.
10. Support the office with monthly tasks e.g., entering staff data onto the FT MES database.
Working for Our Organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals.
