Turn Organic Waste into Opportunity: Lead as a Site Supervisor for Biffa Organics Location: Walpole Hours of work: Monday to Friday overtime Salary: £33,321 A quick look at the role. The role holder will efficiently organise and supervise the daily operation of a Green Waste Composting Operation, and Wood Processing & Street Sweeping Treatment Operations, ensuring health & safety and environmental compliance, whilst showing continuous improvement in productivity, plant availability and the requirements of sub-products produced in accordance with the site permits and quality protocols. The Supervisor will drive Wheeled Loading Shovels / Telescopic Handlers on a daily basis and operate waste shredders and compost screening machinery as well as leading a small team. Your core responsibilities. Turning organic waste into compost products and producing materials suitable for recycling and bio-mass fuel. Oversee resources, including staff, equipment, and stock, ensuring high productivity, equipment availability, and effective housekeeping. Manage material flow in and out of the site processes, minimising downtime and controlling waste materials. Maintain detailed records of plant operations, stoppages, and unplanned downtime causes. Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental regulations, site licences, and company policies. Support planned preventative maintenance programs to minimise downtime and track recurring issues. Provide data to support maintenance, cost control, health & safety, and service KPIs, addressing variances as needed. Operate mobile plant equipment and supervise contractors, issuing permits and ensuring compliance with procedures and audits. Requirements Our essential requirements. Nationally recognised Wheeled Loading Shovel and/or Telescopic Handler driving qualification. IOSH managing safety or equivalent H&S qualification Assist in other areas of the Company’s activities as required from time to time e.g. working at another site. To be available by telephone for emergency call out. Our Desirable requirements. Wamitab COTC level 4 qualification or working towards.
