As a Wastewater Design Engineer, you'll be instrumental in the planning, design, and execution of water treatment and wastewater management systems. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you'll craft innovative solutions that align with regulatory standards, environmental goals, and client needs. This role offers the opportunity to enhance water infrastructure and ensure the reliable delivery of clean water and responsible treatment of wastewater across the UK.
What you will be doing
1. Agree and enforce design philosophy / design fundamentals.
2. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all designs comply with relevant regulatory requirements, codes, and standards, including those related to water quality, environmental protection, and public health.
3. Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide technical expertise.
4. Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, technicians, and other professionals across disciplines to integrate various components of water infrastructure projects and ensure their seamless operation.
5. Quality Assurance: Conduct design reviews, inspections, and testing to verify the integrity, functionality, and compliance of clean and wastewater infrastructure systems.
6. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation to communicate design concepts, project progress, and outcomes to clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
Who we are looking for
1. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
2. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or eligibility for professional registration.
3. Proven experience in the design and implementation of clean water and wastewater systems, including treatment plants, distribution networks, and pumping stations.
4. Proficiency in relevant software tools for hydraulic modelling, drafting, and project management (e.g., AutoCAD, EPANET, WaterCAD, GIS).
5. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and engage with clients and stakeholders.
7. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to water quality, environmental protection, and infrastructure design.
8. Commitment to safety, sustainability, and ethical conduct in engineering practice.
