An exciting opportunity has arisen for a floating ward clerk supporting wards within Specialty Medicine. The ideal candidates will preferably have experience of working within a hospital environment. This post is aimed at an individual who has a willingness to learn, enjoys being busy and likes a challenge.
You will have a flexible approach to this role to enable the needs of the service to be met. The ability to organize your workload and the ability to meet deadlines is essential.
This post often involves being the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors and a calm, sensitive, friendly attitude is paramount.
You will be a core member of the Team and you will need to be robust and dynamic to meet the demands of your role, only the most motivated, enthusiastic and adaptable of candidates should apply.

Main Duties of the Job
In this vital role the key element of your role is supporting the medical wards - i.e. Stroke, Gastro, Renal, Respiratory, Cardiology and Frailty, to cover annual leave and sickness absence to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the wards across Specialty Medicine. As the floating ward clerk you will receive ongoing training and support, some of which includes:
1. Induction with a supernumerary period
2. Local induction to the wards
3. CLIP patient notes training
4. PAS and Whiteboard training
5. Friends and family training
6. Record Keeping
7. Information Governance

Job Responsibilities
To provide administrative and clerical support to wards within Specialty Medicine to professional qualified staff and provide first point of contact to all users of the service.
The nature of the post means that the post holder will be expected to work across multiple wards but would normally be attached to one area.
The particular duties to be undertaken by the post holder will be determined by his/her ward/department manager. Objectives, performance and training needs will be regularly reviewed in accordance with the Trust's performance review guideline.

Experience
Essential
* Previous clerical or reception experience preferably in a hospital environment or customer service environment.
* Basic inputting and keyboard skills.
Desirable
* Previous ward clerk or clerical team assistance experience.
* Familiar with patient administration information systems.
* Ability to manage own workload and work on own initiative.
* Ability to work alone and as part of a ward team.
* Able to work flexibly and provide cross cover within specialty medicine.
Qualifications
Essential
* Good general education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A-C).
