The role Bristol University Press is looking to appoint a Senior Journals Assistant on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will join the small and friendly journals team and provide administrative, editorial and marketing support. We are currently operating a blended working policy. What will you be doing? The Senior Journals Assistant’s main responsibilities are: Managing the journals mailbox and being the first point of contact for enquiries to the team; Providing editorial assistance for a small number of journals; Gathering data for journal board reports; Liaising with authors about open access requests; Finance processing using the University’s ERP system (e.g. processing and raising invoices) and maintaining clear records of all financial transactions; Providing marketing support across the journals list; General administrative support to the journals team. You should apply if You have experience of working in a busy administrative or clerical role. You are proactive, organised, have strong clerical and IT skills and experience of using online systems. You have excellent numeracy skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. You have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. You remain calm under pressure and are good at handling competing demands for attention. You have experience of providing excellent customer care. You have an interest in academic publishing and marketing.
