Our leading aerospace client based in Southampton is currently looking for an Experienced Aerospace Welder to join their team on a permanent basis.

Role Summary:
A skilled and experienced aerospace welder/brazer to be part of the Press Shop & Heat Treatments department. The successful applicant will be an Aerospace approved welder and have completed an NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in engineering processes such as mechanical or aeronautical engineering, with a basic understanding of materials utilized in the aviation industry and related processes.
Responsibilities:
* EHS: Promote a safe workplace environment, ensuring adherence to all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Report all accidents and incidents.
* Clocking and Booking: Ensure that all required clockings (time and attendance) and bookings (job costings) are made accurately and timely.
* Housekeeping: Maintain clean workstations and ensure all tools and equipment are stored correctly.
* Quality: Comply with all quality standards, processes, and procedures, completing work with care and minimizing wastage.
* Cost Management: Support cost reduction initiatives by minimizing unnecessary expenditure.
* Knowledge & Skills: Keep knowledge and training up to date to achieve specifications and acceptable standards for the role.
* Team Working: Actively participate in team meetings, share knowledge, coach and mentor trainees, and be willing to be trained in other areas.
Role Specific:
* Aerospace approved welder with NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification, ideally a Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Engineering.
* Train other personnel in welding and be the site's subject matter expert in welding/brazing.
* Manually TIG weld various types of metallic components, including aluminium alloys, according to aerospace standards.
* Carry out manual brazing and welding techniques on light gauge aluminium alloys.
* Hold certification in accordance with, or equivalent to, CAA's BCAR A8-10.
* Undertake other welding methods to support the business as necessary.
* Set up and operate automatic seam welding equipment and perform post-weld validation.
* Collaborate closely with quality and engineering to assist in generating Standard Operating Procedures.
* Adopt a positive 'can do' attitude to problem-solving.
* Process, interpret, and evaluate components to customer drawings and specifications.
* A working understanding of the NADCAP audit and accreditation process.
* Subject to successful approval of periodic welding/brazing test pieces as required.
* Share knowledge, train when required, and hold a TA stamp to over-stamp work.
* Any other reasonable duties that align with the level of the role.
* Methodical with great attention to detail.
* Proven understanding of engineering documents.
* Basic IT skills.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Proven ability to participate in a team culture.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Experience in training/mentoring others in welding techniques.
Security Clearance:
Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role. Please note that if BPSS clearance cannot be obtained, you may not be eligible for the role and/or any offer of employment may be withdrawn on grounds of national security.
