Job Summary
To act as the lead of the University Hospitals Plymouth Parkinson's disease service. Part of this role will be to provide strategic leadership for the University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHPNT) Parkinson's disease service and direct line management for a rapidly growing team of Parkinson's specialist practitioners/nurses. The UHPNT service serves a population of approximately 1500 people with Parkinson's, caring for them at each stage of the disease. This includes a new patient pathway for newly diagnosed PD, a pathway for supported self-management and patient-initiated follow-up, an inpatient liaison service, a regional atypical Parkinson's clinic, and a rapidly expanding device-assisted therapy (DAT) service.
Main duties of the job
UHPNT will be the first centre across the South West Peninsula to run a dedicated DAT clinic; it is anticipated that satellite clinics will in due course open at other acute NHS Trusts across the South West Peninsula. Part of the role will be to provide support for Parkinson's specialists to establish and run clinics at these centres. This will entail a strong element of regional education to facilitate knowledge transfer and sharing of best practice.

Lead on driving an education agenda which facilitates the learning of the wider workforce, especially when key areas of growth are identified. Critically assess and address own learning needs, negotiating a personal development plan that reflects the breadth of ongoing professional development across the four pillars of advanced clinical practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* ENB 998 (Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice /D33/D32), or equivalent course
* Statutory professional registration
* Must possess, or be willing to work towards a Masters degree in related area
* Independent non-medical prescribing
* Proven evidence of relevant, recent study and continuing professional development in Parkinson's care
