IT Infrastructure Engineer

The Department
IT (Information Technology) department which consists of two sections, infrastructure and development. Infrastructure is the businesses collection of hardware, software, networks, data centres, facilities and any related equipment used to develop, test, operate, monitor, manage and support any IT services (including the telephone system).
The purpose of the role
The role will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and supporting the IT infrastructure to provide excellent customer service for our staff and customers.
Our systems are primarily cloud based using an IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) model so a key part of the role will be monitoring and liaising with third parties to ensure our systems are secure, updated, operational and that they are delivering a good service.
Key Accountabilities
1. Providing escalation point to IT staff for support.
2. Managing and implementing projects.
3. Installing and maintaining any new or existing software and hardware.
4. Ensuring Asset register is up to date.
5. Administer and support M365 software services.
6. Setting up and maintaining user accounts, permissions and passwords.
7. Training staff on new or existing systems.
8. Maintaining the IT knowledge base with new or updated information.
9. Day to day monitoring of network, system, security and backup performance.
10. Overseeing security of all systems and services.
11. Planning and suggesting future improvements for IT environments.
12. Liaising with third party companies for support and acquisition of equipment or services.
13. Suggesting IT solutions to business problems.
14. Ensuring any IT queries/issues are recorded and escalated to the IT Manager at an appropriate time.
Qualifications, knowledge & experience
1. Technical knowledge and experience of M365 administration.
2. Microsoft MTA: IT Infrastructure or CompTIA Network+ qualification or equivalent knowledge, exposure and experience.
3. Technical knowledge and experience in network switch / wireless administration.
4. Technical knowledge and experience in Citrix XenDesktop administration and performance management.
5. Technical knowledge and experience in managing security vulnerability software.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to a non-technological audience.
7. Attention to detail.
8. Analytical and problem-solving ability.
9. Teamwork skills and the ability to work with different levels of staff across the business.
10. Ability to manage/prioritise multiple tasks/projects.
11. Excellent time management.
12. Excellent customer service.
13. Technical knowledge of Azure.
14. Technical knowledge of Windows computer systems.
15. Technical knowledge of Windows server operating systems.
16. Technical knowledge of Microsoft Office.
