G’s Fresh Ltd and their Beetroot operation in March packs over 17.5k tonnes each year, a site with industry-leading automation and a significant workforce, they supply the UK’s leading supermarkets with fresh, healthy Beetroot products. We are looking to recruit an Engineering Technician to work with our engineering team to be responsible for identifying, diagnosing, and resolving complex and longstanding engineering issues, with a strong emphasis on root cause analysis. The Engineering Technician’s priority will be implementing permanent fixes and process improvements that prevent recurrence while also providing support with immediate technical engineering issues. This role is designed to elevate the current engineering practices within the factory, contributing significantly to continuous improvement efforts and fostering a culture of operational excellence and ‘best in class engineering’. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough investigations of technical faults, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence. Utilise advanced problem-solving techniques to address complex engineering issues that affect production and operations. Provide training and mentoring to current engineering operatives, enhancing their technical skills and knowledge. Support factory workers in understanding engineering processes and equipment operation, promoting a proactive approach to fault prevention. Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions focused on root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies. Analyse existing processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for optimization and increased efficiency. Lead the implementation of process changes, ensuring minimal disruption to production while achieving long-term operational improvements. Serve as a key technical resource within the factory, offering expert advice and guidance on engineering matters. Champion a culture of root cause analysis and continuous improvement throughout the operational Engineering Team Candidate Requirements A strong background in mechanical or industrial engineering. Familiarity with the equipment and processes used in food packaging or similar industries is highly desirable. Proven track record in fault finding, root cause analysis, and implementing process improvements. Experience in mentoring Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical and electrical issues. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement tools is desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence others. Strong problem-solving abilities with a tenacious attitude towards overcoming challenges. A proactive, improvement-focused mindset with a passion for engineering excellence. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative approach to achieving goals. Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
