Job Overview The Dental Skills Course Technician (DCT) is responsible to the Medical Education Manager (MEM). The DCT will assist the MEM, SLME (Strategic Lead Medical Education) & MEC (Medical Education Co-ordinator) to develop, manage and monitor Dental training programmes and Inductions. The DCT will apply national polices and current legislation relating Dental training. Main duties of the job The post holder is required to assist in the effective and efficient delivery of technical and administrative support to the dental Tutors & faculty. Dental Technician (DT) is also responsible for the setup kit and audiovisual equipment. Dental Technician is solely responsible for the management and operation of the Dental Suite. Dental trainees attend here approximately for 25-30 sessions per academic year. Dental Technician organises the sessions, orders in supplies in conjunction with Dental School, deals with animal tissue disposal and H & S requirements when the trainees practice on animals’ jaws. DT maintains the dental equipment and phantom heads and arranges their regular technical service. DT provides dental technician support to all dental trainees attending the trust Dental Skills lab. Organising the storage and inventory. Set up dental equipment and instruments as per course requirements before sessions. Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and is ready for use.
