Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in The Phoenix Team which is a midwifery team that specialises in providing specialist care for vulnerable women. This secondment in the team is specifically focused on young parents and the postholder will work alongside the Young Parents lead midwife. The successful applicant will be responsible for a cohort of young mothers aged 19 and under with specific focus on mothers aged 17 and under and will be delivering individualised antenatal and post-natal midwifery care supporting young women and families with a variety of vulnerabilities throughout their pregnancy.
Main duties of the job
* Providing antenatal and postnatal care to young parents
* Providing and promoting parent education
* Working with multidisciplinary teams and agencies
* Collaborating with local safeguarding teams
* Making appropriate referrals to other agencies
* Providing and promoting health education
* Acting as the Named Midwife for a cohort of young mothers
* Working in partnership with other professional colleagues and wider multi-agency partners to care for women with complex needs
* Planning and delivering evidence-based midwifery care in partnership with the women to provide a supportive relationship, acting as an advocate for women and their families at all times
* Monitoring maternal and fetal well-being in pregnancy
* Monitoring and maintaining standards of care whilst providing antenatal and post-natal care at venues such as women's homes, health centres, family practitioner surgeries, or the hospital.
Person specification
Experience
* Evidence of post-registration continuous clinical practice
* Evidence of experience in all areas of midwifery
* Evidence of experience with safeguarding referrals
* Experience/evidence of coordinating a maternity ward/clinical/community area
* Successfully completed a preceptorship programme
Qualifications
* Registered Midwife on Part 2 of the NMC register
* Degree/diploma relevant to specialty
* Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
