An exciting opportunity has arisen within Islington Council’s Pension Team for an experienced Principal Pension Officer, who will be involved in all aspects of the day-to-day administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, and performance driven. The ability to prioritise work and meet critical deadlines with a high level of consistency and details are essential. Main duties of the job: Support and assist in the efficient and effective operation of the Pensions Administration function. Ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Pensions Regulator, General Code of Practice. This includes all aspects of pension work, monitoring, control and reconciling submissions from the Pension Fund Scheduled and Admitted Bodies. To be responsible for performing a range of tasks including the checking of a wide range of pension cases, including transfers, divorces, deferments, retirements, deaths and employer returns. To act as lead officer in response to a broad range of complex and occasionally contentious cases. Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the LGPS Regulations and other related legislation for the Council and its employees. To assist the Deputy Pensions Manager in developing the Benefit Team service to a level of excellence. About us Based within the council’s Resources directorate, the Pension Team is responsible for the administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme for Council employees and employees of other organisations that have chosen to participate in the Scheme. Within the Pension Team opportunities and training exist to be involved in projects to shape the work of the team and develop and improve your skills/knowledge in Pensions administration.
