We are looking for an exceptional Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Team, based in Ely. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes for our surgical robot product line. This role requires a strong background in engineering and manufacturing, as well as experience with medical device manufacturing. Responsibilities Your routine will vary as manufacturing engineering projects progress, from concept development to realisation, including: Providing first-line hands-on support to the Production teams Verification, validation, and risk management of equipment, processes and inspection methods Identifying and implementing process improvement activities and product design changes to ensure compliance, continuous improvement and scale up of Versius manufacture Contributing to our internal knowledge database We’re a rapidly developing company and roles can change and evolve. You’ll be willing to turn your hand to anything within the Manufacturing remit that supports the team with delivering its objectives. About you To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have: A strong background (medical device industry or similar) in a relevant engineering discipline or science discipline with knowledge of one or more of mechanical, electronics and software engineering disciplines; Experience of Process and Equipment verification and validation (e.g. FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ); Experience of introduction of new products or processes to production; Experience of supporting the development and transfer of designs and equipment to manufacturing and ensuring that DfX applies; Familiarity with quality management systems in medical device or similar industry; Excellent communication skills compatible with mixed technical audiences; A pro-active mindset in ensuring internal customers receive a high quality of service; The ability to work independently, liaising with senior members of the team and provide supervision to Graduate Manufacturing Engineers; A persistent problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset to engage in investigation and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical assemblies; The ability to write and review complex technical design documentation and test protocols; The ability to manage your own projects and; The desire to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the business. It would also be helpful if you have: Demonstrable interests in robotics or test automation; Experience of Lean, Six Sigma or other relevant improvement methodologies and; Experience of reading log files and database contents.
