Who will you be supporting?
Hi, I am living in my own home in Herne Bay, Kent and am supported by SeeAbility. Experience supporting a person like me, an Autistic lady with mild Intellectual Developmental Disability, and some complex health needs, would be a strong advantage.
I am looking for calm, assertive Support Workers with a great sense of humour to join my team. You need to support me to lead the life I want and to encourage me to be gradually more skilled and confident.
Whilst I need a quiet and happy environment in my home, I like to do activities. I really enjoy shopping in the supermarket, but I like the simple things in life. I would love for people to join my team who have the same interests. Being kind, dependable but also assertive to understand when I want to have my own space is crucial.
You will encourage me to learn life skills and gain independence. I ask for your patience and confidence and can see the value in small gains. You will follow coaching from my behaviour support person and are willing to help when needed.
Responsibilities
* You will provide direct support when displaying behaviours to enable them to take part in a wide range of activities.
* You will ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety.
* You will promote independence and develop life skills, whilst helping with all tasks necessary to ensure positive life experiences.
* You will work positively with other agencies, parents, carers, and other services to ensure a person-centred approach.
* You will contribute to the development of records and support plans and become a keyworker when needed.
* You will support and keep a clean living environment catered to her individual needs.
* To take part in regular and ongoing training relevant to the person you will support's needs.
Why work for us?
