Join Our Team as a Safeguarding & Welfare Case Manager at Motorsport UK!
Are you passionate about safeguarding and welfare? Do you have a professional background in safeguarding and experience in managing sensitive cases? Motorsport UK is looking for a dedicated and proactive individual to join our team as a Safeguarding & Welfare Case Manager .
The Safeguarding and Welfare Case Manager will play a key role in working alongside the Motorsport UK community, supporting and enabling them to meet a high safeguarding standard. Reporting into the Head of Safeguarding, the role will be responsible for the investigation of all safeguarding & welfare reports, working collaboratively with colleagues in the Legal team to manage risks proportionately. The primary objectives associated with this role will be:
Case Management
* To conduct and manage investigations into safeguarding referrals, managing a caseload efficiently while referring to UK-wide legislation, Motorsport UK Safeguarding Policies and Disciplinary Regulations.
* To work with Motorsport UK registered clubs, providing advice, guidance and support to assist them in developing their skills in the required actions when they identify safeguarding concerns.
* To maintain accurate and auditable records of all actions and decisions in relation to safeguarding and welfare concerns and outcomes of suitability checks.
* Effective use of the Motorsport UK Case Management System, ensuring all information is held according to data protection legislation and Motorsport UK's Retention of Safeguarding Records policy.
* Leading on the continuous improvement of reporting, recording and subsequently feeding in to identified workstreams of safeguarding development.
Risk Management
* Complete thorough risk assessments for any applicant whose suitability check discloses previous offending history.
* Work efficiently and sensitively to manage risks, liaising with statutory partners where required.
* Inform the Head of Safeguarding in a timely manner of any identified risk.
* Chair the Independent Suitability Panel, sharing proportionate information to ensure the proportionate management of risks.
* Provide onward reporting to relevant organisations as required and working with statutory agencies to information share and manage risk.
Welfare Support
* Lead on the communication and management of contact with the Motorsport community following serious or fatal incidents leading to post incident support.
* Review and manage the implementation of the support services available.
* Action referrals to support services required by members of the community.
* Review learning from safeguarding concerns to assist in the development and delivery of Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
* Assist in the implementation of Mental Health and wellbeing strategies within Motorsport UK.
* Work effectively with other Motorsport colleagues following post incident welfare being triggered by a serious or fatal incident in the sport.
* Work with the Motorsport UK Medical Administrator on welfare matters of the community.
Organisational Development
* Be a leading member of the Safeguarding Team, assisting in the identification of work for inclusion in the Safeguarding and Welfare Strategies.
* Contribute to the design of content for safeguarding training, education and awareness raising programmes and support the delivery of these.
* Assist in the delivery of training to the Motorsport community, in person or online, including the quarterly Club Safeguarding webinars.
* Support the Head of Safeguarding in the review and implementation of policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding at Motorsport UK
Academy Safeguarding Provision
* Build and maintain positive relationships with external service delivery partners (e.g. Education providers) to deliver coordinated responses to safeguarding concerns that cut across organisational boundaries.
* Develop a strong listening culture, consult with the Students, Parents/Carers/Staff to enrich the Academy experience and maximise student's potential.
* Attend review meetings of the Academy students and discuss any safeguarding or welfare concerns.
* Work collaboratively with Coaching staff to ensure that the duty of care for all students is prioritised throughout their experiences.
Additional Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively to contribute to the continuous improvement of safeguarding by identifying and sharing lessons from cases and ensuring these are captured and included in the safeguarding strategy and operational plans.
* Manage safeguarding projects independently as agreed by the Head of Safeguarding.
* Contribute towards Motorsport UK's engagement with the NSPCC/CPSU and other professional bodies for the purpose of improving safeguarding practice.
* Act as an ambassador for Motorsport UK at events and other networking opportunities.
* Build relationships with statutory agencies to improve processes and referral pathways.
* Line manager to the Case Coordinator.
* Attend events in the sport and engage with our community to promote safeguarding.
Core Competencies
* A professional background in safeguarding, or experience of safeguarding in sport, evidence of recent experience in undertaking investigations and/or safeguarding assessments which are child focused.
* Experience in managing a sensitive case load effectively, with the ability to remain calm and resilient whilst managing a varied and challenging case load.
* The ability to make proportionate, reasoned and justifiable decisions in safeguarding cases and to be confident in making recommendations in relation to desired safeguarding outcomes.
* Understanding of safeguarding legislation and experience of applying this in practice.
* Exceptional standards of customer service skills, willing to listen, empathise and provide constructive information in a calm and methodical manner.
* Excellent communication skills, the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals from a variety of sporting disciplines and backgrounds.
* Demonstrable experience of building relationships across a diverse range of audiences, including colleagues, Board members, communities, and clubs.
* Knowledge and experience of using different IT packages and programmes to present information in a number of different formats to suit different audiences.
* An organised and analytical mindset with strong attention to detail. The ability to review and analyse data sets to identify themes, gaps and patterns.
* Committed, professional and proactive with the ability to work with limited supervision, manage time independently and prioritise tasks.
* A desire for continued professional development in this area.
* Display attitude and behaviours that respect and value diversity and promote equal opportunity and the welfare of others.
