We are recruiting for an effective Senior Finance Manager to join our Finance team. You will provide guidance and advice, thought leadership, and challenge to the Courier Pay strategy. This role’s primary purpose is to lead and drive out cost efficiencies and optimisation through the Final Mile Network (Delivery Units and Courier Pay) as part of the Courier Pay Strategy Programme. Partnering the project, you will be accountable to deliver annualised savings of over £40m over 2 years.
You will be accountable for:
Partnering Courier Pay Strategy
* Support the Director of Final Mile and the Finance Director – Operations, in forming the cost optimisation strategy for courier pay, its strategic direction and target the lowest cost to serve for our desired service levels;
* Take a longer term vista versus the normal tactical lens of the operations, to ensure our direction of travel lands us at the right cost levels;
* Working hand in hand with the Head of Change – Final Mile to formulate our strategy into executable in year plans with the project and operational teams;
* Embed targets into the Final Mile budgets, with appropriate resourcing and revenue expenditure costs to implement the changes. Create regional targets, glide paths and realistic timescales, that the Regional Finance Managers can use to performance manage the File mile field team on;
* In a detailed and complex environment, glue data science learnings and opportunities into real financial benefits, shaping how we pay couriers, what we pay for and when we play;
* Support on trials where necessary and evaluate their financial impact on the business for any proposed rollout;
* Measure the benefits delivery across the whole Courier Pay Strategy Programme, with support from the Senior Finance Manager for Final Mile and their team.
Strategy for Every Region
* Create a regional cost to serve model, which enables Evri to understand the costs and efficiencies of each Delivery Unit Area in the country;
* Maintain the model, so it remains up to date and usable for all key strategy and tactical decision making required;
* Using this model, target specific areas for improvement and optimisation, which may include changing, moving or reducing Delivery Units, targeting the removal of expensive couriers or changing the service levels from Depot to end customer;
* Using the model, set the right space requirements within the Delivery Unit network for future growth of Evri, aligning with Hub and Depot infrastructure changes and volume projections;
* Assess, with the support of data science and geographical insights, the best location for each delivery unit to maximise service for the best cost;
* Liaise with the data team on optimisation opportunities, stress-testing these through the model and providing financial data to support business cases.
* Evolve the Courier Pay Target Model, so that it accurately reflects the markets we operate in and the delivery methods we have. E.g. ESG routes, Solus, Red Routes, etc.;
* Financially evaluate the impact of changes in the model into the Courier network, to scenario evaluate launch impact and resultant financial changes;
* Quarterly, land model changes into the courier pay system to optimise the pay targets that need to be negotiated with core couriers or load in as cover rates;
* Support the creation of a dynamic cover rate model, to change in relation to supply of cover, seasonality and market dynamics;
* Take on new Final Mile models for both Delivery Unit Pay and Contractors, when these have been created. Advise and support the development of these models and future models to support the optimum pay for Final Mile service providers;
Leadership
* Either through direct or indirect (outside of the line) leadership, coach and develop our team, with a real emphasis on inclusion, with equal opportunities for all, and creating a high performing team. Role model this for the team especially FMs and FBPs;
* Support and empower the team in the development of a standardised, consistent and effective approaches;
* Empower and cultivate a continuous improvement culture and that focuses on adding value, and removing non-value added activity from the team / business;
* Champion the use of innovative techniques and tools to deliver industry leading business partnering.
To be successful you will be a multi-disciplined finance professional with a significant amount of financial experience, having worked in part as a business partner; You will have experience of owning and developing annual budgets, forecasts and long-term strategic plans. Co-ordinated large-scale insights, distilling them into simple and actionable messages. Experience utilising analytical tools outside of basic excel. You will have a clear understanding of financial and business risk, capable of executing robust judgement to ensure it is managed appropriately. You will have worked closely with director level stakeholders, and be confident in presenting, challenging and debating information with this audience.
Qualifications
* Accountancy qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) or analytically trained / experienced
* UK Driving Licence
