A major UK & International freight forwarder, distribution and logistics company is looking for a distribution manager to supervise and team and coordinate distribution activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing of freight.Oversee daily operations within the distribution department, ensuring seamless and efficient workflow. ROLE: Distribution Supervisor LOCATION: Derbyshire BASIC SALARY: £34k BENEFITS: Pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, life assurance, Eyecare Voucher Scheme, etc. ROLE: Support the team in achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OTIF (On Time in Full), IOC (Internal Order Completion), and IOD (Internal Order Dispatch). Foster a high-support, high-challenge culture that drives continuous improvement and maximises departmental profitability. Develop and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and service quality. Develop the team to ensure that colleagues are multi-skilled across multiple distribution disciplines. Work closely with the Distribution Manager to develop and execute strategic plans for resource allocation and holiday cover. Act as the key point of contact for operational issues, proactively resolving challenges to maintain high service standards. Monitor and analyse performance metrics, identifying opportunities for process improvements. Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety regulations, and industry standards. Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall logistics efficiency and customer satisfaction. Deputise for the Distribution Manager as needed, assuming leadership responsibilities in their absence. Lead, motivate, and develop the distribution team, fostering a positive and results-driven work environment. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must have supervised or managed in a freight distribution environment before, H&S experience, KPIs, such as OTIF (On Time in Full), IOC (Internal Order Completion), and IOD (Internal Order Dispatch). Experience in a fast paced logistics environment, Knowledge of distribution operations, freight handling, and supply chain best practices. Familiarity with relevant logistics software and tracking systems.
