This post will attract a Recruitment & Retention Premia for 3 years as follows:
1. 20% of basic salary in the first 12 months
2. 15% of basic salary in the second 12 months
3. 10% of basic salary in the third 12 months
Eligibility criteria do apply. Please note that staff currently employed by the Trust would not be eligible to apply for this recruitment and retention premia.
We are excited to launch the recruitment of this innovative new post, developed in partnership with The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine. The role has two parts:
1. Consultant Psychiatrist - a permanent role with opportunities available in a wide range of psychiatric specialties within The Bay locality.
2. Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer - for 3 years (with a satisfactory annual review) based at the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine in Carlisle.
There may be the opportunity to contribute to the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration would be paid.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join LSCft and to be an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine.
The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM) is a new venture between the University of Cumbria and Imperial College London, aimed at producing doctors committed to delivering cutting-edge healthcare approaches and serving the needs of the Cumbria community. PCSM will be based at the University of Cumbria's Carlisle campus and will open in September 2025.
Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the GMC Specialist Register or be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.

The 10 PA role includes up to 4 PAs for educational time, 3.5 PAs for clinical time, and 2.5 PAs for SPA time. Other benefits include:

Job responsibilities
It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.
