Job Duties
The DOC Farmer’s Market in Jarratt, Virginia serves DOC Agribusiness in the procurement and distribution of fresh and frozen produce, eggs, milk, kosher products, and emergency supplies throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland in the most efficient, productive, and cost effective manner for the Agency.
To serve and be responsible for the oversight and maintaining commodity (fresh, produce, frozen foods, milk, juice, Kosher foods, etc.) inventories and supplies by properly receiving, storing, and delivering.
The DOC Farmer’s Market Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and maintaining commodity (fresh, produce, frozen foods, milk, juice, Kosher foods, etc.) inventories and supplies by properly receiving, storing, and delivering.
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 -month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of high school or equivalent. Experience in general warehouse practices. Possession of valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement. Demonstrated ability to operate forklifts and electric pallet jacks. Demonstrated ability to lift & handle units of produce weighing 50 lbs. Demonstrated ability to train and supervise inmate workers. Organize work assignments and collect, organize, & maintain accurate records. Working knowledge of produce handling and distribution.
Additional Considerations
Experience working in a correctional setting.
