We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and passionate Maths Tutor to deliver City & Guilds Functional Skills Maths qualifications (Entry 1 to Level 2) to a class of 12 learners at HMP Millsike. Your Role
As a Prison Maths Tutor, you’ll deliver engaging, high-quality lessons tailored to diverse learner needs, including those with neurodiverse profiles. Your responsibilities will include:
* Delivering City & Guilds Functional Skills Maths qualifications, ensuring learners are exam-ready.
* Conducting initial assessments and using BKSB diagnostics to establish learner starting points.
* Creating and reviewing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) to support progression toward employability goals.
* Planning inclusive, adaptive lessons that cater to varied literacy, numeracy, and social barriers.
* Encouraging a love of learning and promoting reading for pleasure to improve literacy skills.
* Collaborating with colleagues to ensure learners with additional needs receive tailored support.
* Inspiring learners by demonstrating the relevance and functionality of maths in their daily lives.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Qualified and Committed: Holds a Level 3 qualification in Maths and English, with a Level 5 teaching qualification (or a willingness to work towards one).
* Skilled and Adaptive: Confident in using diverse teaching methods to engage and motivate learners of all levels.
* Supportive and Collaborative: Works effectively with colleagues, learning support practitioners, and prison staff to create a positive learning environment.
* Organised and Proactive: Manages administrative tasks efficiently, from ILPs to exam bookings, while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Working Hours:
This is a full-time role, 38.5 hours per week, with the following schedule:
* Four days per week: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
* One half-day per week: either 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM
