We are looking for a Senior / Principal Urban Drainage Modeller to join our Water Environment Department. Your role will be to lead the delivery of a range of urban drainage modelling projects for several key clients in the UK.
Our Urban Drainage Modelling Team undertake a range of projects relating to wastewater and integrated catchments including feasibility studies, surface water management plans, model build and verification and development impact assessments. The team also undertake optioneering with a focus on smart network management and sustainable drainage solutions. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design and analysis of urban drainage systems, contributing to sustainable water management solutions that meet the needs of our clients and communities.
We are looking for individuals who are able to challenge conventional thinking and work collaboratively to meet a wide range of business, environment and regulatory challenges for these clients. The role offers an opportunity for successful candidates to broaden and diversify their hydraulic modelling expertise.
Ideally the role will be based in Leeds with flexible working (minimum 3 days per week in the office) but other locations would be considered for the right candidate.
Core duties and responsibilities will include:
* Working within agreed deliverables, key milestones, project methodology, quality assurance and control strategy.
* Leading project delivery tasks which may include engagement with clients’ technical teams.
* Providing technical guidance, support and training to less experienced colleagues
* Working in close collaboration with and supporting colleagues from other disciplines as required.
* Recommending / implementing improvements to technical policy, processes and design solutions where applicable, and sharing via the knowledge management channels as appropriate.
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Experience in the model build and verification of integrated catchment models, catchment planning and solution development using Infoworks ICM.
* Experience of water quality modelling or undertaking UPM studies would be advantageous.
* Experience of GIS (e.g. ArcGIS or Mapinfo) and Infoworks ICM hydraulic modelling software is essential.
* A track record in mentoring team members less experienced in this field.
* Experience of managing projects and acting as technical discipline lead on urban drainage modelling projects is essential.
* Knowledge of the UK legislation and relevant guidance governing the technical discipline.
* Chartered (or nearing chartership for Senior positions) with a professional body such as CIWEM or ICE.
