We are currently recruiting for a Senior Standards Verifier - Vocational Qualifications - Sport, Coaching and Playwork
A Senior Standards Verifier will be the responsible expert in terms of specification interpretation and verifier standardisation for a range of programmes within a PSA across all relevant frameworks or standards. To monitor assessment and internal verification for a range of programmes within a Principal Subject Area (PSA) in order to report on national standards across centres.
Purpose of this role:
Undertake sampling of assessment and internal verification decisions and records for Sports and Coaching Qualifications within a Principal Subject Area (PSA) to affirm that national standards have been achieved and upheld.
Support, advise and guide centres based on the outcomes of the sampling process.
Direct centres in the delivery of WBL Sports and Coaching towards meeting compliance requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Undertake sampling of learner work within defined parameters and rules to verify that assessment outcomes, assessment and internal verification processes meet national standards.
2. Provide sector-specific support, advice, and guidance to centres.
3. Produce reports for centres and Pearson on the sampling undertaken, outcomes reached, and support provided.
4. Recommend limited certification, certification deferral or registration deferral where it is deemed that flawed assessment or internal verification decisions, or processes mean that national standards are not met.
5. Produce targeted actions for centres to assist with remedial action where national standards are not being upheld.
6. Support centres to understand and implement identified actions.
7. Report back to Pearson and centres following SV activity within agreed service-level agreements.
8. Provide source materials for the standardisation of centre assessors, internal verifiers and lead internal verifiers as requested.
9. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the work of BTEC Assessment in relation to this role.
Work Experience:
1. Hold a formal teaching or training qualification (Awarded by an HEI or NQF/QCF/RQF qualification awarded by a recognized Awarding Organization) at Level 3 or above.
2. Demonstrate necessary experience, knowledge and understanding of sporting excellence, skills and development.
3. Provide evidence of occupational experience which will include experience of working in sports or working in a role that can be mapped to the requirements of the sport SSV role.
4. Provide evidence of 2 years experience in sporting excellence, skills and development.
5. Demonstrate keeping occupational expertise up to date with at least twenty-five hours every year spent in a combination of training, increasing professional knowledge through other means, or working in the sports industry.
6. A willingness to engage in online training and standardisation and to use technology-based approaches for communication and centre support.
7. Experience in delivering and assessing Sports and Coaching.
Experience/qualifications needed:
1. Substantial recent experience in verification of qualifications within the sector.
2. Teaching/training qualification at Level 3 or above.
3. Significant experience in delivering and assessing vocational qualifications.
4. Lower or higher level assessment and delivery experience across a range of qualifications.
5. Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in the field of assessment and delivery of vocational qualifications.
6. A clear understanding of the educational landscape and regulatory requirements for qualifications within the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) and National Qualification Framework (NQF).
7. Detailed knowledge of the specifications that comprise the area of expertise for the role.
8. Excellent report writing skills.
9. Ability to edit materials to ensure they are grammatically correct and fit for purpose.
10. Excellent communication, written, verbal, IT and interpersonal skills.
11. Ability to understand the implications of decisions taken on Pearson’s behalf and not to operate outside the sphere of responsibility defined within this job description.
12. Demonstrable people management skills.
13. Have personal IT equipment capable of running Pearson required software.
14. Have a suitable internet connection.
15. Have a personal and secure email account.
16. Have a postal address in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland.
17. Declare any conflicts of interest that could impact on the role.
18. Have availability of 8 to 20 days, dependent upon the requirements and workload for the sector, in any given year.
