Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Finance Officer.
A hybrid working arrangement, with an expectation that staff will be in the office a couple of times per month.
Following the appointment of a new senior leadership team in Finance, we are expanding and adapting to create a supportive team that anticipates and collaboratively solves problems, helping us deliver an ambitious programme that reaches across all areas of local authority operation and interest.
The Senior Finance Officer will report to the VAT Accountant and will support on a range of areas within the Corporate Accountancy team:
1. Completion of the monthly CIS Returns and VAT claims, including conducting accuracy checks and sample testing. This also involves liaising with HMRC and addressing any VAT-related queries.
2. Monitoring and reporting on financial controls.
3. Support on completion of the annual Statement of Accounts and associated processes.
4. Finance systems maintenance support and resilience.
5. Completion of government and other statutory returns.
6. Balance sheet and other reconciliations.
7. Liaising with and providing information to internal and external audit as required.
To be suitable for the role, you need to have relevant accountancy experience. You should be working within a finance team related role in a local authority or wider public sector or not-for-profit organisation environment as part of a Financial Accounting Team. You must possess excellent communication skills and an exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data analysis. Any local government Corporate Accountancy experience is highly welcomed.
