Nexxus Care are looking for a Learning Disability Support Worker An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, confident and passionate Support Worker to work in our exceptional short breaks and respite centre based in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, our centre supports adults with learning disabilities. The role of a Nexxus Care support worker will include: Supporting clients to live independently - from helping prepare and cook delicious healthy meals, attending appointments, managing budgets and shopping. Accessing the community - supporting clients to participate in local social events, promoting life skills, individual hobbies and interests Communication - Building strong working relationships with our clients to ensure person centred care is being upheld. Promoting positive relationships to help understand the client, their needs, wants and goals. Learning different ways of communicating ie Makaton, Braille Personal Care - help clients prepare for their day. Some clients will require further support with their personal care including washing, bathing, showering, toileting etc Encouraging individuality whilst making a real difference to lives of clients with a learning disability, they are diverse in their needs and abilities. Training will be provided however we do prefer candidates to have good knowledge of Learning Disabilities and how they can present as an individual. About You What we need from you: Flexibility to work shift patterns over a 7 day working week. No 2 days are the same within our respite centre - we can accommodate up to 5 overnight clients with the addition of day centre users. Shift times are typically 7am - 3pm, 3pm-10pm and 9.45pm - 7.45am Good understanding of learning disabilities and the requirements that individuals may need. Ability to adapt to situations that may arise within the service when supporting clients with additional or complex needs Living within a commutable distance to the service (DE15 9QP) - Public transport is not always reliable To ensure you are compliant: Do you have the right to work in the UK with proofs?
