An opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialised Clinical Physiologist – Echocardiography to join the Cardio-Respiratory Department.

The successful candidate will be an RCCP registered Physiologist with a sufficient number of years’ post-qualification experience.
It is important that the candidate can demonstrate flexibility, good communication skills, and the ability to work as a team member.
The candidate will work alongside fellow Consultants, Nurses, and other Healthcare professionals to ensure high standards are maintained across the organization.
This post is based in Southport & Ormskirk and requires that you work flexibly across all sites.
An Enhanced DBS Certificate with both the Adults’ and Children’s Barred Lists is required for this position.

KEY DUTIES
1. Provides fully comprehensive, unsupervised reports of a highly professional standard in a range of procedures.
2. Uses clinical judgements to act on reports in an unsupervised way.
3. Has highly specialised knowledge and skill in at least one specialist area and is responsible for the development and delivery of that service.
4. Clinical supervision of testing in this area.
5. Developing and implementing relevant policies and procedures.
6. Producing costs for each procedure.
7. Implementing staff training programs for all levels of staff.
8. Peer evaluation of competency levels.
9. Stock control and consumable costs in this area.
10. Maintain optimal functioning and regular servicing of equipment.
11. Initiation of research and audit programs in order to review services and to monitor capacity.
12. Provide regular updates to the manager on service progress and re-design.
13. A commitment to setting up new services and expanding the Physiologist role into areas traditionally covered by doctors.
14. Deputise for other service leads in their absence.
15. Participate in out of hours sessions when required.
16. May be called upon to participate in a 24hr on call emergency rota covering a range of invasive and non-invasive tests.
17. During out of hours or on call sessions, together with clinical responsibilities, the Physiologist will take on a level of managerial control of departmental issues.
18. Take on a level of managerial control as designated by the manager.
CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Deliver clinical skills and knowledge unsupervised across a wide range of basic and specialised clinical procedures.
2. Be proficient in a range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures.
3. Provide high quality care for patients.
4. Required to deliver complex information and instruction in a sensitive manner considering the diverse needs of all patients regardless of their age and abilities.
5. Required on a regular basis to communicate information concerning patients and their test results, giving advice and recommendations to a wide range of staff groups.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To ensure the accuracy of data quality in line with departmental policies and procedures are all current and correct.
TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Designs and implements training and education programmes in own specialist area.
2. Assists with the delivery of education programs in a broad range of subjects to a variety of staff throughout the Trust.
3. Actively participates in the mentorship arrangement and takes an active interest in liaising with Higher Education Institutes providing teaching and placements when required.
