Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
Responsibilities in this role will include:
* Ensure that all actions and decisions take consideration of the impact on our children, young people and families in accordance with Seashell Trust’s Core Values. Acting as a role model for colleagues in terms of standards of behaviour, professional expertise and integrity
* Contribute to a positive culture of Safeguarding including reporting any concerns
* Assisting with daily routines including personal care, eating and drinking, mobility needs and supporting with access to social and community activities
* Assist with infection prevention and control policy and procedures
* Undertake domestic duties such as cooking and cleaning to ensure high standards are maintained and compliance with health and safety and risk assessments are met
* Attend induction training and specialist training such as in moving and handling before being asked to undertake tasks
* Attend workshops and participate in as many learning opportunities as possible
* Assisting with the relevant department, also learning about other aspects of Seashell
* Observing health and safety procedures
* Complete all course work as required
* Positively receiving feedback
* Attending meetings and offering suggestions for improvement
* Keeping a reflective log of everything learned, complying with the 20% off the job training
* Build professional relationships with colleagues, families and other professionals
* Maintain a warm and caring environment which is appropriate and stimulating so that our children and young people can receive good physical, emotional, social and intellectual care
* Contribute to the assessment, recording and reporting of individual care plans according to the standards identified in the service specification
* Maintain good communication both within the home and with appropriate external professionals and families
* Maintain the existing record keeping systems, contribute and write reports for meetings as necessary
* Be aware of and comply with any statutory requirements, policies, equal opportunities and local requirements
* Undertake such other work as may be determined by Seashell, from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the principal duties and responsibilities of the job
