As a result, Owens Group is looking to recruit a Night Transport Planner.
4 on 4 off Nights - 6pm to 6am
To take responsibility for the timely traffic planning of routes and scheduling delivery times to ensure that the customer receives a first-class service in a cost-effective way.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Carry out tasks largely unsupervised to cost and quality standards.
2. Plan ahead - tasks and resources. Liaise with internal/external customers to resolve problems.
3. Collect, analyze, and distribute information/data.
4. Provide professional/specialist advice both internally and externally.
5. Develop relationships with external customers.
6. Specify and ensure levels of support service are in place.
7. Prioritize and coordinate workloads.
8. Complete tasks to time and quality standards.
9. Avoid customer complaints and work to budgets.
10. Establish successful working partnerships with customers, internal and external.
11. Deliver the right advice in a timely manner and achieve respect for your competence.
Specific Key Accountabilities:
1. Work with customers, suppliers, drivers, and other traffic desks to plan routes and schedule delivery times to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
2. Prioritize workload, route planning, driver brief, and de-brief.
3. Liaise with other depots within the Company.
4. Communicate and monitor drivers effectively.
5. Demonstrate strong organizational skills for planning schedules, journeys, and loads.
6. Proactively work to reduce late deliveries and missed time slots.
7. Make quick decisions and work flexibly.
8. Exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels.
9. Maintain the computerized system Stirling and use Excel spreadsheets.
10. Have a good understanding of current transport regulations.
11. Possess good geographical knowledge.
12. Monitor compliance and work with drivers to eliminate infringements.
13. Ensure that all drivers are aware of SAFED and actively improve SAFED achievements to goals.
14. Be responsible for employee health and safety.
15. Ensure that vehicles and trailers are available in a timely manner to adhere to compliance and inspection requirements.
16. Provide general support appropriate to management when required.
Specific Qualifications/Job Training:
1. Experience of working at a similar level.
2. Job-specific qualification preferred.
3. Specific experience in traffic management.
4. Experience dealing with VOSA compliance.
5. Problem-solving and logical thinking skills.
6. Ability to work unsupervised while managing time and prioritizing work to meet tight deadlines.
