The Role
As Purchasing Manager, you will be required provide direction and leadership for the national and international Supply Chain function, managing all import & export compliance for Quartzelec group along with operational responsibility for supply, with the aim of making cost savings and achieving best value for Quartzelec.
* Develop and enhance procurement systems and data, focusing on supply chain performance improvement and measurement, along with structured management reporting. Implement strategies for supplier base reduction and engage in group buying initiatives
* Ensure adherence to supplier contracts in alignment with strategies and policies, while identifying cost-saving opportunities and leading projects to achieve successful implementation
* Facilitate the efficient and cost-effective flow of materials and tooling through the supply chain to support Quartzelec’s national and global projects
* Establish stock replenishment targets and monitor their achievement. Authorise stock purchases and ensure deliveries meet Quartzelec’s requirements
* Ensure compliance with customs regulations and serve as the primary point of contact for international customs documentation and trade requirements. Ensure that Quartzelec adheres fully to HMRC regulations for all imports and exports
* Provide guidance on incoterms and favourable international trade terms to the sales team and project managers, along with pricing estimations for quotations and tenders
* Support Project Managers in sourcing and securing the best value for Quartzelec through effective purchasing strategies
* Lead procurement efforts for special projects and capital equipment
* Assist the Project Management team with the interpretation and review of terms and conditions in suppliers' and customers' contracts
* Analyse and agree on contract terms and conditions, ensuring business risks are managed appropriately during the tender stage. Implement necessary controls with the support of the management team as needed
* Update information on the Quote Register, attaching relevant documentation
Your skills and experiences:
* Relevant degree or certification in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
* Proven experience in purchasing roles, demonstrating expertise in sourcing and procurement processes
* In-depth knowledge of FIDIC, NEC3, NEC4, or similar contract frameworks
* Experience in the power generation industry, with a focus on rotating equipment and related technologies
* Expertise in supplier relationship management, including supplier development, performance improvement programmes, and ensuring ongoing compliance with industry standards
* Demonstrated success in procuring capital equipment and materials, managing high-value contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery

* Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
* Clear, confident, and assertive communicator, able to navigate complex discussions with ease

* Willingness to travel as needed, both domestically and internationally, to engage with suppliers and support project needs
