We are working with a leading, privately owned civil engineering contractor with a proven reputation of contributing towards the delivery of major projects across building and infrastructure schemes across the UK.
They have secured a sizeable package of groundworks and additional infrastructure work on a major project in South Wales with a value of more than £20M delivered over a challenging 18-month programme. With additional work likely, they require an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the project from inception.
Reporting to the UK infrastructure Director, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for:
1. Leading the management of the project and ensure all works are managed in line with the contract.
2. Prepare and update quality, environmental, and construction phase plans.
3. Write and update risk assessments and method statements.
4. Plan, measure, monitor, and review progress throughout the project’s lifespan to ensure compliance with budget and programme.
5. Input into monthly financial reports including cost/value reconciliations and budget forecasts.
6. Work collaboratively to administer the contract whilst maintaining good relations with project stakeholders.
7. Interpret engineering drawings and specifications and ensure the accurate construction of the works per the client's requirements.
8. Identify risk in sufficient time to allow effective mitigation to be implemented.
9. Oversee the management of site-level change including Early Warning and Compensation events.
10. Ensure appropriate plant, labour, subcontract, and material resources are available on time to meet the project programme.
11. Ensure environmental protection measures are identified and implemented.
Qualification & Criteria:
1. CSCS Professionally Qualified - NVQ Level 6 or above.
2. SMSTS.
3. Track record of delivery as a Project Manager within a civil engineering/groundwork capacity.
4. Strong management skills and ability to provide mentoring and support to the wider team.
5. Ability to interact confidently and effectively with excellent interpersonal, listening, and negotiation skills.
6. Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including the use of MS Project (or other programming software).
7. A good working knowledge of different standard forms of contracts, particularly NEC.
8. Strong commercial acumen.
