We have a very exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the specialist Renal team at Heartlands hospital. This is a relatively new position and so lots of opportunities for the applicant to develop both themselves clinically and in a leadership position as well as the role itself. The caseload is mainly supporting working in an outreach capacity for long term renal patients in the community, enhancing their quality of life and maximising their potential. The role also involves some inpatient support of the Heartlands renal units and facilitating the transition from inpatient to the community. If an applicant has any additional questions, please contact Karen.cunninghamuhb.nhs.uk Main duties of the job The successful candidate will have to take a lead role in the advanced occupational therapy assessment, management and treatment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical conditions; to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised specialist treatment programme. This will be within both a inpatient and community setting. The role consists of supporting patients with long term renal disease with both their complex physical and psychological conditions. This includes a consultative role with relatives and staff providing advice, recommendations, support, training and and instruction as identified The successful candidate will need to have experience of working within a MDT as a representative for therapy and lead in the training and development of clinical practise and service. To provide leadership and management daily to the therapy team within specialist area, including supervision, appraisal and development. To be involved in recruitment process to these staff.
