The Role
:
As a Ecologist, you will conduct ecological surveys and draft related reports such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Ecological Impact Assessments.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide guidance to project teams regarding ecological laws, policies, and directives.
2. Formulate strategies for mitigating and enhancing projects.
3. Oversee subcontractor activities and ensure project standards are maintained.
4. Act as a professional witness for clients as necessary.
5. Coordinate with Natural England, Local Authority Ecologists, or designated consultants.
6. Stay abreast of updates in ecological issues and legislations.
Requirements:
7. Previous experience working in a similar role.
8. At least 3 years of experience in ecological practice.
9. Background with preliminary ecological appraisals, protected species surveys, and ecological impact assessments.
10. Degree in Ecology or closely related field.
11. Membership with the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
12. Familiarity with the Natural England Biodiversity Metric 4.0.
13. Knowledge of both UK and EU wildlife legislation.
14. Proven capability in conducting ecological surveys and preparing associated reports.
15. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
16. Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
