Story Behind the Need:
The GIAM IAM Engineering team oversees the management of staff authentication processes and provides IAM platform system set up and support. Currently, the team is involved in transitioning towards a Cloud-based Multi-Factor Authentication system. The IAM Software Engineer will be supporting the migration from the legacy solution to the new solution (Microsoft Entra ID/Azure Active Directory).

Typical Day in Role:
1. Deliver solutions for Identity and Access Management in a large enterprise environment in alignment with enterprise security requirements and standards.
2. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Identity Access Management during project lifecycle including development, testing and implementation.
3. Partnering with stakeholders of both upstream and downstream systems to ensure proposed solutions align to appropriate technical and security standards or frameworks.
4. Onboarding and supporting enterprise-wide applications integrated with IAM solutions.
5. Investigate, perform root cause analysis and resolve system problems during standard work hours and/or assigned on call hours.
6. Reporting to Principal Solution Architect.
Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:
1. 10+ years of working experience as a Software Engineer.
2. 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure ID and Conditional Access in a large enterprise environment.
3. 3+ years of hands-on experience with technologies about web access management, authentication, Multi-Factor authentication, single sign-on authorization, and identity lifecycle management, such as on SAML, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, LDAP, MFA, REST and API Gateway integration.
4. Strong knowledge on technologies about cloud computing, Windows server operating system, directory system, networking, and system monitoring.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1. 3+ years of hands-on experience on DevOps such as Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket etc. and understanding of Java and web application development.
2. Microsoft certifications related to Entra ID or MS security or any related MS certifications.
3. Security certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, GISF, GSEC.
Soft Skills:
1. Superior problem-solving skills to resolve work issues with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
2. Strong communication both verbal and written and good interpersonal skills to build relationships with business partners.
Best vs. Average Candidate:
Worked on similar business transformation projects, specifically migration within the IAM space. Strong Entra ID background & certifications.
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is an asset.
Candidate Review & Selection:
1st round MS Teams video interview – Hiring Manager (1 hour) – Assess both technical (70%) and soft skills/team fit (30%) – related to Entra ID. Possibility of 2nd round – HM + Team member – 30mins – MS teams.
