Learning Support Assistant (1:1 SEND Support) | Early Years

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child with Special Educational Needs in a mainstream primary school in Harlow. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey while working in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support for a SEND child, focusing on their academic, social, and emotional development.
* Adapt learning materials and strategies to suit the child's needs, ensuring access to the curriculum.
* Assist with implementing the child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and contribute to regular progress reviews.
* Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to the child’s education.
* Support the child with personal care and mobility if required.
* Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging independence and engagement.
* Monitor and document the child’s progress, offering feedback to the teaching team and parents.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children with SEND in a school setting (preferred).
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude, with a passion for supporting children with additional needs.
* Ability to build a strong, positive relationship with the child and work closely with the school team.
* A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
