We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Lead Support Worker to join our dedicated team. This role requires a full UK driving license, with the ability to drive the vehicles used by people we support. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in a senior support role within health and social care, as well as strong leadership abilities.
Being a Lead Support Worker.
As a Lead Support Worker, you'll be essential in providing high-quality, person-centred support to people with learning disabilities and autistic people. You will assist the locality manager and assistant locality manager to coach support workers to help each person live fulfilling lives and ensure both gentlemen are supported achieve the outcomes identified within their support plans.
This includes organising and leading community activities, supporting with medication, overseeing stock, and promoting good relationships—taking a calm, professional approach to communication.
This role involves a rotating two-week schedule, with every other weekend required. Shifts are typically 7:30 am - 3:00 pm and 2:30 pm - 10:00 pm. Flexibility is essential to meet the needs of those you support, including weekends and holidays.
No two days will be the same, you will enjoy variety and assist them in the following ways:
- Fully understand the support needs of the people you support and their families, maintain appropriate records for these two groups, and be a role model of good practice.
- Support with medication, organise stock control and ensure systems are safe.
- Participate as appropriate in relevant reviews at individual, team and service level and work to continually improve practice whilst challenging poor practice.
- Contribute and coordinate the wider team approach in meeting the needs of people we support.
- Coach frontline staff to develop the skills they need to deliver the best possible support.
- Involve the people we support in the planning of their support. This includes developing and delivering their support plan, reviewing the support they receive against Dimensions' values and maintaining good working relations with their circle of support.
Dimensions want you to develop professionally as a lead support worker. This means that you are expected to get involved and contribute to meetings, work towards gaining qualifications about your work, attend training courses and be willing to learn new things and ways of working.
