Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible and well-motivated Administrator to join our team at Camborne Redruth Community Hospital.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated and able to make full use of the computer systems after training. A willingness to learn and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential attributes applicants will require for this post.
This role will provide essential clerical support to the Minor Injuries/Urgent Treatment Centre in addition to supporting all patients, staff and visitors to the hospital.
You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions, and you must possess excellent communication skills.
The successful candidate will be required to have a good level of education and have experience in Administration and Clerical duties with good customer care skills.
You must be flexible in order to meet the changing needs of service. The successful post holder will be expected to cover colleagues in times of sickness and annual leave.
Full training will be given on IT systems.
A uniform will be provided.

Main duties of the job
To greet and direct patients, carers and visitors at reception desks in line with Trust procedures.
To register patients in to the Minor Injury Unit/Urgent Treatment Centre.
Maintaining and updating electronic patient records in real-time,
following training using training manual and procedures supplied.
Answer the telephone in accordance with Department procedure.
To understand and be fully competent in a range of administration functions, responsibilities, and duties both routine and non-routine to contribute to the effective delivery of patient care, through knowledge of hospital systems and consultant practice.
Supporting and assisting all staff, patients and visitors to site.
The ability to prioritise work, use your own initiative and to work as part of a team is essential.
The ability to remain calm and present an understanding approach at all times is essential for this post, along with excellent communication skills, interpersonal and organisational skills.
The post holder will demonstrate a caring and sensitive approach to their work, demonstrate their understanding of confidentiality and have a flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude.

Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience
* Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft office or similar applications
* NVQ or RSA 2 or equivalent experience
* Basic numeracy and literacy skills
* Experience of working in an administrative setting
* Experience of managing electronic and paper-based diary / appointment systems
* Experience of using electronic and paper-based information systems
Knowledge and abilities
* Ability to use initiative when dealing with queries
* Attention to detail and confidentiality
Skills and Aptitude
* Ability to communicate clearly by telephone and face to face with a range of people including patients, health & social care professionals and the public
